Abi Hozjan
Abi is our hospital administrator. She has assisted at the animal hospital, in many different roles, since opening in 2002.
She went to school for Accounting and Business Management, and is our behind the scenes girl, dedicated to making sure the practice runs smoothly and all our financial needs are met. She can be found bouncing around wearing many hats to help ensure clients and patients have the best care possible, and that our team is happy!
Abi and her husband, together with their children, have a Miniature Schnauzer named Goose. She is dedicated yogi and holistic enthusiast. She enjoys horseback riding and can be found out on the trails alongside her mom, Dr. Whelan, on her horse Skully.
Amanda Lupton
Amanda, a much-loved member of the Spencer Creek Animal Hospital team! After graduating from Seneca College in 2013 as a Registered Veterinary Technician she joined our team and has been an essential part of the clinic ever since.
Amanda brings a wealth of knowledge, a contagious smile, and a passion for animal care — including feline grooming!
Outside the clinic, she enjoys camping, reading, video games, and family time with her husband AJ, son Karsen, Golden Retriever Jonesy, and chinchilla Kovu.
Her passion for animals has even taken her to South Africa, where she had the incredible opportunity to care for lions, tigers, and giraffes!

Sharisse Thompson
Meet Sharisse, one of our Registered Veterinary Technicians who joined the Spencer Creek Animal Hospital team in 2021!
A 2017 graduate of St. Clair College’s Veterinary Technician program, Sharisse has a passion for veterinary care — especially rabbits, dental procedures, and, of course, coffee!
A true country girl, Sharisse lives in Orkney with her husband and their Golden Retriever mix, Suzie.
Outside the clinic, she enjoys hiking, horseback riding, playing piano, and golfing. We’re so lucky to have Sharisse’s compassion, expertise, and great sense of humour on our team!
Taylor Dixon
Taylor, one of our passionate Registered Veterinary Technicians and our rehabilitation and movement therapy guru!
Taylor graduated from Seneca College’s Veterinary Technician program in 2019 and became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) through the University of Tennessee in 2021. She joined Spencer Creek in 2023, and we’re so lucky to have her on our team!
Taylor loves helping patients improve their mobility and quality of life, especially getting to know long-term patients and watching their progress.
Outside the clinic, Taylor loves travelling, reading, and exploring new places — including the beautiful Isle of Skye, Scotland! She married her husband Ben in 2025, and together they share their home with Chihuahua mixes Monty and Minnie and their social orange-and-white cat, Patty.

Matthew Williams
Matt, a valued member of the Spencer Creek Animal Hospital team since 2022!
With 18 years of Registered Veterinary Technician experience, including emergency care, companion animal practice, and veterinary management, Matt brings a wealth of knowledge and a warm, easygoing personality to our team.
Outside the clinic, Matt enjoys archery, hiking, biking, and hitting the gym. At home, he shares life with his beloved Maine Coons, Isabelle and Nando — making him our resident Maine Coon expert!

Danille Scarlett
Dani, who first joined the Spencer Creek family as a volunteer in 2018 and officially became part of our team in 2019!
Starting as a Kennel Attendant, Dani stepped up during the pandemic and became an invaluable member of our team, supporting both patients and staff wherever needed. She’s also our go-to for capturing adorable patient photos for social media!
Dani has a natural talent for caring for our team’s Junior Assistants and loves making sure every pet gets extra treats, cuddles, and attention.
At home, she shares life with her cat Oreo, bunnies Hoppers and Hopperlina, rescued Beagle Maggie, and Ball Python Striker.
We’re so lucky to have Dani’s kindness, creativity, and compassion on our team!
Nicole Dupuis
Meet Nicole, one of our Registered Veterinary Technicians, who joined the Spencer Creek team in 2023!
A 2010 St. Clair College graduate, Nicole brings years of experience and a passion for patient care. She’s also a Certified Nutrition Advisor, helping clients create personalized feeding plans to support their pets’ long-term health and wellness.
Outside the clinic, Nicole loves camping, exploring the outdoors, and baking delicious vegan treats for the team! She also enjoys puzzles and spending time with her Corgi, Loki, and orange long-haired cat, Harry.

Mikaela Romain
Meet Mikaela, one of our passionate and driven team members at Spencer Creek Animal Hospital!
Mikaela joined us part-time in 2022 and came on full-time in 2023. She holds a degree in Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour from McMaster University and graduated from Seneca College’s Animal Care program in 2021.
With previous experience at an equine surgical referral facility, Mikaela has a special interest in animal rehabilitation and is currently working toward becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician.
Outside the clinic, she enjoys hiking, biking, gardening, and reading. At home, she shares life with Kevin the Shih Tzu mix, Tehya the three-legged Shepherd mix, and her cat Perry.

Sarah Wedlake
Sarah, one of the friendly faces at our front desk! With a background in customer service, grooming, training, and boarding, Sarah has always had a passion for animals.
She’s passionate about animal health and nutrition and is currently working toward becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT).
Outside the clinic, Sarah enjoys camping, hiking, travelling, audiobooks, and crafting. She and her husband, Matthew, share their home with three cats and three dogs!
Sarah dreams of one day volunteering at an elephant sanctuary in Thailand.
